LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV Athletics had a record 151 student-athletes earn the 2024-25 Mountain West Scholar-Athlete Award, the conference announced Thursday. This surpassed the department's previous record of 147 set in 2021.
To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must have competed at least two semesters or three quarters at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better.
A pair of Rebel programs set new records with their award recipient totals, including football's department-best 36 honorees and women's swimming and diving's 22 honorees. Three other teams also reached double figures as track and field had 21 honorees to go along with baseball and women's soccer each with 13 honorees.
Topping off the list of award recipients were volleyball with nine, softball and cross country with eight apiece, women's basketball and women's tennis with six, women's golf with five, men's golf with two and one each for men's basketball and men's tennis.
Overall, 1,716 student-athletes earned the honor, which included 261 individuals who achieved a 4.00 cumulative grade point average over two or more terms. UNLV improved upon its mark of 99 MW Scholar-Athlete Award recipients from last year.
2024-25 ACADEMIC YEAR: The spring total gave UNLV 194 total student-athletes named to the Academic All-MW Team for the academic year, which increased from last year's 167 honorees. Joining their Scarlet & Gray counterparts, men's swimming and diving had 11 student-athletes and men's soccer followed with nine student-athletes named to the Academic All-WAC Team.
