LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV volleyball team was on the wrong end of a 3-0 decision Sunday afternoon, as the Utah Tech Trailblazers claimed the victory in straight sets on the final day of The Rebel Challenge. The Trailblazers, which won the match behind set scores of 25-23, 27-25, 25-14, defeated the Rebels for the first time in program history after previously losing its first seven matches to the Scarlet & Gray dating back to the 2022 season.
HOW IT WENT DOWN: Utah Tech outhit the Scarlet & Gray by 130 points (.267 to .137) with help from 14 more block assists (16-2) and 13 fewer errors (11-24) in four fewer attack attempts (120-124). The Trailblazers' hitting efficiency was shown aggressively in set three with a .455 clip compared to their .152 in set two and .244 in set one. The Rebels, on the other hand, topped out with a .238 average in the first, but posted a .128 in the second and a .029 in the third.
UNLV and Utah Tech each produced 38 assists, while the Rebels led in digs (52-26), service aces (3-2) and digs (52-46). Moreover, the Trailblazers led in total team blocks (16.0-8.0).
The Scarlet & Gray was Agata Makowska's first career double-double of 23 assists and 14 digs, while Jada Ingram added a career-high 15 kills and two digs. Jaida Harris tacked on 12 digs and eight kills and Caleigh King chipped in nine digs, five assists and one kill. Rheanna Deen-Jackson collected two blocks assists and Basia Latos added six kills and seven digs.
