LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women's swimming senior Erika Carlson has been named the Raising Cane's Outstanding Rebel of the Week, the school announced Wednesday.
Carlson has earned the recognition for the first time this season, while it's also the swimming & diving team's second of the year.
The award goes to the student-athlete who turned in the best individual performance during the previous week of competition from Monday through Sunday as voted on by the UNLV Athletics Strategic Communications department.
A native of Seattle, Carlson led the Rebels to dual meet wins over in-state UNR and Fresno Pacific. In a win over UNR, she won two individual events in the 100 free (50.54) and 200 free (1:47.96). Additionally, she was the third leg of the 200 free relay 'A' team that earned an event win (1:32.66) against the Wolf Pack.
In a dominant victory over Fresno Pacific, she earned wins in the 150 free (1:21.18) and in the 75 free (37.76). She was also the lead-off leg of the Rebels' 400 IM relay 'A' team that finished in first place (3:58.52).
With the win over UNR, the Rebels secured at least a tie of the three points in the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union.
