Lady Rebels Picked No. 1 In Mountain West Preseason Poll

Meadow Roland was selected as Preseason Player of the Year; Roland and Jasmyn Lott were selected to the Preseason All-MW team

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV women's basketball team has been selected for the No. 1 spot in the Mountain West for the 2026-27 season, the league announced today ahead of MW Media Day at Palms Casino Resort. This marks the fifth straight season the Lady Rebels have been picked no. 1 in the preseason poll.
 
The Scarlet & Gray was voted atop the league standings by media members and coaches receiving 16 first-place votes and a total of 193 points.
 
Individually, redshirt junior forward Meadow Roland was selected as the league's Preseason Player of the Year. Additionally, Roland and redshirt senior guard Jasmyn Lott were named to the Preseason All-MW Team.
 
Roland, a Fresno, California native, was named to the All-Mountain West first team and All-Defensive team last season and was additionally, the 2024-25 MW Freshman and Sixth Player of the Year. She led the Lady Rebels last season with nearly a double-double of 15.0 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game. Additionally, Roland led the league and the squad in blocked shots with 55. She was fourth in the MW in scoring and field goal percentage (.441). Last season Roland played and started all 31 games. She recorded 13 double-doubles and had 15 games with double-digit rebounds.
 
Lott, a Frisco, Texas native, was the second-leading scorer for UNLV, averaging 12.5 points per game. She played and started 26 games last season and led the squad in three-point percentage with a .376 (32 of 85). Lott was third on the squad in free throw percentage with a .833 going 40-for-448 and in field games made with 126 (4.8 per game). She scored 20+ points three times last season including a 23-point performance versus Utah State on January 7.
 
Grand Canyon was voted second in the preseason poll with five first place votes and 180 points, UC Davis was third with 127 points, Hawai'i was fourth with 125 points, and rounding out the top five was New Mexico with one first-place vote and 123 points. The rest of the poll is as follows: Air Force (107), Wyoming (84), UNR (83), UTEP (56) and San Jose State (32).
 
The other members of the 10 selected to the Preseason All-MW team include Air Force senior guard Jayda McNabb, Grand Canyon junior guard Chloe Mann, Grand Canyon senior guard T'yana Todd, Hawai'i sophomore guard Bailey Flavell, UNR junior guard Sierra Chamber, New Mexico sophomore guard Laila Abdurraqib, UC Davis junior guard Avery Sussex and Wyoming sophomore forward Jane Rumpf.
 
The Lady Rebels begin the 2026-27 season on Tuesday, Oct. 27 hosting Cal State LA in an exhibition contest at The Pavilion at 6:30 p.m. The regular season starts on Monday, Nov. 2 as UNLV will play USC in the Hall of Fame Las Vegas series at 1 p.m. at T-Mobile Arena.
