PEORIA, Ariz. (UNLVRebels.com) – Led by three individual under-par rounds, the UNLV women's golf team played its way into the top 10 after two rounds Sunday at the Westbrook Invitational being hosted by Wisconsin at Westbrook Village Golf Club (Par 72, 6,293 yards).
REBEL ROUNDUP: Sophomore
Amber Chen's (69-72) 3-under, junior
Zi Yu Foong's (71-71) 2-under and freshman
Lana Yamagata's (73-70) 1-under outings guided the Rebels to a 3-under 573 as a team through 36 holes. On the individual leaderboard, Chen ended the day in a tie for 18th, followed by Foong in a tie for 23rd and Yamagata in a tie for 29th.
Behind them in the Scarlet & Gray lineup are junior
Jane Huang (+4) in a tie for 56th and freshman
Almina Erdogan (+7) in a tie for 66th.
DAY-ONE LEADERBOARD: Arizona holds the lead at 22-under 554 after day one. In a tie atop the individual standings, Minnesota's Mariana Mesones and Kansas State's Noa van Beek each shot a 9-under 135 on the day. The Scarlet & Gray is in ninth going into the third round.
UP NEXT: The final round is set for Monday with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.
