RENO, Nev. (UNLVRebels.com) - The CU1 Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships proved to be a record-setting weekend for the UNLV Rebels women's track and field team, as the Scarlet & Gray delivered a wave of personal bests and historic marks across three days of competition at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
Jada Lujan opened the meet on Thursday in the pentathlon, totaling 3,082 points. The sophomore highlighted her performance with a personal-best 800m time of 2:34.35 to close out the event. In the 200m, Jayda Bushay clocked a personal-best 24.32 seconds, finishing 15th overall.
Friday's action saw a surge of personal bests in the field events, headlined by Amaya Mitchell-Howard in the weight throw. Mitchell-Howard launched a lifetime-best mark of 19.75 meters (64 feet, 9.5 inches), moving into fourth all-time in UNLV indoor history. Teammates Sophia Clark (15.54m/50-11.85) and Lauryn Williams (14.56m/47-9.25) also recorded personal bests. Lujan continued her strong meet with a personal-best clearance of 1.60 meters (5-3) in the high jump, while Kayli Middleton notched a personal best in the long jump at 5.09 meters (16-8.5). On the track, Reagan Reed ran 5:24.15 in the mile for a personal best.
The hurdles crew made noise in preliminaries, as Jaci Wright (8.40) and Gabby Goodgames (8.64) both qualified for the 60m hurdles final, with Goodgames posting a personal best in the process. Goodgames later added another personal best in the 60 meter dash, sprinting 7.56 seconds. In the 400m, Kaelin Gowdy (55.00) and Kaitlynn Webbe (55.08) each turned in personal-best performances, with Webbe finishing second in her heat. Claire Rands rounded out the day with a personal-best 2:17.34 in the 800 meters.
The third and final day of competition brought hardware and history, as senior Krishna Jayasankar delivered one of the top performances of the meet for UNLV, placing second in the shot put with a personal best throw of 17.09 meters (56-1). The mark remains second all-time in program history. In the 60m hurdles final, Wright improved upon her preliminary time with a blistering 8.27, earning second place and a personal best. Goodgames added a seventh-place finish in 8.65 to cap her busy meet.
The triple jump featured another pair of strong efforts, with Middleton posting a personal-best 11.71 meters (38-5) and Juliana Roberson finishing seventh at 12.33 meters (40-5). Reed closed out her meet in the 3,000m with an 11:06.44 personal best.
The weekend concluded with a strong showing in the 4x400-meter relay, as Webbe, Aly Winston, Bushay and Gowdy combined to run 3:39.02, finishing first in Heat Two.
SILVER STATE SERIES UPDATE: UNR claims the three points awarded for the sport in the standings towards 2025-26 Silver State Series, the all-encompassing athletic and academic competition sponsored by America First Credit Union between the Rebels and UNR Wolf Pack. UNR finished in second place with 84 points, while UNLV claimed 32 points for a 10th-place finish.Â
UP NEXT: The Rebels will soon take off for the outdoor season, taking part in the Beach Opener hosted by Long Beach State. That meet will be a two-day event, taking place from Friday, March 6 through Saturday, March 7, as Clark and Roxene Simpson will be the lone Rebels competing in the meet.
