LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - For the second time in three weeks, UNLV senior thrower
Krishna Jayasankar has been named the Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. This marks the second MW Athlete of the Week nod for the Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India native.
Jayasankar won the shot put with a personal best throw of 16.63 meters (54' 6.75") at the New Mexico Team Open. The mark now ranks second all-time in UNLV indoor program history as she bested her previous personal best mark by 0.60 meters. Her mark of 16.63 meters currently ranks first in the Mountain West and 19th in the NCAA.
The Rebels will return to the Albuquerque Convention Center for the Don Kirby Elite Invitational, taking place Friday, February 13 through Saturday, February 14.
