Shelbee Brown has been named the final Old Trapper Mountain West Player of the Week, the league announced today. This marks the fourth weekly accolade for Brown this season and the seventh for the Lady Rebels.
The 6-foot-0 forward led the Scarlet & Gray to a dominant 76-47 victory over Boise State in the regular season finale to earn the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. The Memphis, Tennessee native collected a season-high 22 points by shooting 7-for-12 from the field and 8-for-10 from the charity stripe. Brown brought down 16 rebounds of which five were huge offensive boards that she scored eight points of her 22 points off of. She helped hold the Broncos to only eight points in the first quarter. Brown dished two assists out of the 15 assists the Lady Rebels had.
The Lady Rebels will stay in town for the Mountain West Conference Tournament at the Thomas & Mack beginning on Saturday, March 7. UNLV is the No. 2 seed heading into the tournament and will have a first-round bye and play on Sunday, March 8 at 5 p.m. against the winner of No. 7 Fresno State vs. No. 10 UNR.
