CLOVIS, Calif. (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV Rebels women's track and field capped a strong weekend at the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a conference title in the 4x100-meter relay, multiple podium finishes and a collection of personal-best performances across the three-day meet at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, California. The Rebels hauled in 49 total points and finished seventh overall.
UNLV opened the championships Thursday with a scoring effort in the hammer throw from Amaya Mitchell-Howard, who placed seventh at 54.87 meters (180 feet). In the women's 800 meters, Kenley Gowdy clocked a personal-best 2:11.76. The Rebels then turned in a strong showing in the 200-meter preliminaries, led by Mikah Scott and KayVeonna Jackson, who both ran personal-best times of 23.72 seconds to qualify for the finals. Scott entered the final in seventh while Jackson advanced in eighth. Kaitlynn Webbe also posted a personal-best mark of 24.02.
Friday's competition featured another round of standout performances from the Rebels' sprint and hurdle groups. Jaci Wright delivered one of the top races in program history in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing second in the preliminaries with a personal-best 13.31. The time ranks as the fifth-fastest outdoor performance in UNLV history. Teammate Gabby Goodgames added a personal-best 14.08 in the same event. Webbe continued her impressive meet in the 400-meter preliminaries, recording another personal best with a 54.18 to qualify seventh overall. UNLV's sprinters again showed their depth in the 100-meter preliminaries. Victoria Perrow finished second in 11.38, while Jackson took sixth in 11.50 and Scott placed seventh in 11.51, sending all three into Saturday's final.
The Rebels closed the championships Saturday with their strongest performances of the weekend. Roxene Simpson earned a fourth-place finish in the discus throw with a personal-best toss of 53.26 meters (174 feet, 9 inches), while Kayli Middleton placed sixth in the triple jump at 12.33 meters (40 feet, 5.5 inches). UNLV's headline moment came in the 4x100-meter relay, where Perrow, Jackson, AnnaKay Maitland and Scott raced to a conference championship in 44.27 seconds. The victory secured the Rebels' second straight Mountain West title in the event.
In the finals on the track, Webbe added another scoring finish with a sixth-place run and personal-best 53.80 in the 400 meters. Jackson led the Rebels in the 100-meter final by taking second in a personal-best 11.40, narrowly ahead of Perrow, who finished third in 11.41. Scott added an eighth-place finish in 11.69. Scott later earned sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.91, while Wright placed ninth in the 100-meter hurdles final at 13.90. The Rebels also closed the meet with a runner-up finish in the 4x400-meter relay, as Jayda Bushay, Webbe, Aly Winston and Kaelin Gowdy combined for a time of 3:38.64 to finish second overall.
SILVER STATE SERIES: By virtue of a higher finish at the CU1 MW Outdoor Track & Field Championships, UNR claimed the three points associated with the sport in the 2025-26 Silver State Series, which is presented by America First Credit Union.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will send some of their student-athletes to the NCAA West Preliminary in two weeks (May 28-31) in Fayetteville, Arkansas; however, the team will have to wait until the NCAA announces regional qualifiers next week.
