Mullen Joined By Four Players At MW Media Days

MEDIA DAY NOTES...

UNLV is represented at the 2026 Old Trapper MW Media Days on July 16-16 by second-year head coach Dan Mullen along with star senior running back Jet Thomas and senior center Austin Boyd on offense and junior lineman Lucas Conti and senior DB Mumu Bin-Wahad on defense ... The Rebels, who have the 10th most victories in the nation over the last two years, look to continue their record run after having averaged double-digit wins, played in the MW Championship Game and appeared in a bowl game for three consecutive seasons ... UNLV has now received at least one vote in either the AP or Coaches' poll in 34 of the last 36 polls ... The Rebels started last season 9-2 for the third straight year and then earned double-digit victories for only the fourth time in school history and first time ever in back-to-back campaigns ... The Rebs lead all of college football with 11 road wins since the start of the 2024 season ... The Rebels are 15-5 in true road games since the start of 2023 after only winning eight total road games in the previous six seasons (8-25) ... Since falling 35-7 at eventual national champion Michigan in the second game of 2023, UNLV has scored at least 20 points in each of its last 34 regular-season games. That's by far the longest active such streak in the FBS ... The Rebels return 29 total lettermen (12 O/16 D/1 ST) and seven starters (3 on each side of the ball plus a PK). That comes just one year after returning only 17 lettermen and the fewest number of starters in the country in 2025 with just TWO ... UNLV will have at least 11 games shown on national TV this fall -- a program record.

REBELATIONS...

UNLV is one of just 16 programs in college football to have at least 30 wins over the last three seasons (30-11) ... Since the start of 2023, the Rebels have earned six wins over teams that were part of P5 leagues at the time of the meeting after having only one such victory in the previous 14 seasons ... UNLV has won six straight road games against non-MW teams, the longest such streak in conference history ... The Rebels have rushed for at least one touchdown in 27 consecutive games, the second-longest active FBS streak (Jacksonville State, 28) ... UNLV ranked 17th nationally in third-down conversion defense, only allowing opponents to convert at a 33-percent clip ... The high-flying Rebels scored at least 30 points in a school-record 11 outings last fall, including the first nine ... Overall, UNLV ranked 18th in the nation with 34.1 points per game, coming in just shy of the school record of 35.4 set just one year previous ... UNLV saw a five-game home win streak snapped vs. New Mexico on Nov. 1 but still finished the 2025 season 5-1 at Allegiant Stadium and has now won 16 of its  last 21 outings in Las Vegas ... The .833 win percentage at home was the best for the program since John Robinson's 2000 squad went 6-0 at Sam Boyd Stadium ... The 10 points allowed at Colorado State last Nov. 8 were the program's fewest by a UNLV Mountain West opponent in a road game since the Rebs downed BYU 24-3 in Provo in 2002. It marked the fewest vs. any MW team since a 35-7 home win vs. UNM in 2012 ... The Rebels are 26-1 since the start of 2023 when leading after the third quarter ... Since the start of the 2022 season, only three programs in the nation have grabbed more interceptions than UNLV. The Rebels, who had 14 INTs last season, have a total of 63 picks in the last four years, bested only by Notre Dame's 66 and Texas and Fresno State's 64. Individually, DB Aamaris Brown and his teammate Laterrence Welch both had four INTs, marking the first time more than one UNLV player brought in at least four picks in the same year since three Rebels had four in 1984 ...  The 2025 Rebels defeated every non-conference opponent on their schedule for the first time since joining a league in 1982 ... The Rebels' 30 wins in 41 games since the start of 2023 represent the most victories over any equal span since they went a combined 32-9 from 1973-76 as a member of D-II under future NFL head coach Ron Meyer ... Dan Mullen had the most wins for a first-year UNLV coach (10) after becoming the first Rebel leader to begin his career in Las Vegas 6-0 since the program's inaugural season of 1968 when original coach Bill Ireland started 8-0 on the D-II level ... After a shaky debut vs. Idaho State when he missed two of his three field goal attempts, PK Ramon Villela made 10 straight three-pointers, including a 50-yarder vs. UCLA, before missing a 59-yard attempt vs. USU. He finished his sophomore season 15-for-20 overall ... The Rebels improved to 11-2 (85%) since the start of 2023 vs. non-conference opponents during the regular season after going 19-45 (30%) during the previous 17 years since college football moved to a 12-game season in 2006 ... UNLV has a new special teams coordinator as Mitch Singler was officially named to the post in July. Singler, who came to campus after a stint with the NFL's Raiders across town, elevates to the coordinator role after joining the Rebels in 2025 as a special teams analyst and then coaching the spring as special teams assistant. Speaking of special teams, UNLV blocked two punts that were returned for touchdowns in last year's win at Wyoming. That came one season after UNLV WR Ricky White III led the nation with four blocked punts as part of the Rebels' five overall in 2024 ... Not counting blocks, however, UNLV has not returned a punt for a touchdown in 23 years -- the longest drought in the nation. The last Rebel to do it was Troy Mason, who went 52 yards vs. San Diego State on Oct. 13, 2001, at Sam Boyd Stadium ... However, when Jai'Den Thomas went 90 yards into the end zone vs. Fresno State in 2024, UNLV snapped a 13-year drought by returning a kickoff for a score for the first time since Deante Purvis sprinted 98 yards to the end zone vs. CSU on Oct. 29, 2011 ... Former UNLV football star and current assistant athletic director for football player development Hunkie Cooper was honored by Athlon Sports as one of the nation's top leaders in July. The former longtime professional player and coach, who was inducted into the UNLV Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024, came in at No. 11 on the Top 25 list "recognizing leaders who invest in the total growth of student-athletes." He was one of only two on the list from a Group of Six program.
