In a physical contest with a combined 24 fouls, the Mustangs (1-0) broke the scoreless tie on an 85th-minute penalty kick after a foul call in the box went against the Rebels (0-1).

  • UNLV's best chances came from shots on goal in the 33rd minute by fifth-year forward Kaitlin Taylor and another in the 73rd-minute by junior forward Sierah McCallum, but both were met with saves.
  • It was the Rebels' first match played under first-year head coach Kacey Bingham.
