LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's golf program has received a signed commitment from Jack Taylor to join the Rebels for the 2026-27 season, head coach Andres Gonzales announced Monday.

Originally from Phoenix, Taylor comes to Las Vegas after a brief stop at Kansas State this spring that followed a year of competing at South Mountain Community College (SMCC) in Arizona. At SMCC, he ranked as high as fourth nationally among JUCO players and No. 1 in his region, racking up a 71.71 scoring average, two wins and 10 top-10 finishes in 14 tournaments across the 2025 spring and fall seasons.

As a sophomore this past fall, Taylor recorded a 69.79 scoring average and four top-10 performances. That included a victory at the Thunderbird Fall Classic (-17), a third-place showing at the Poss High Country Shootout (-16), as well as ties for sixth at the Embry-Riddle Fall Invite (E) and seventh at the Charles Cooper Classic (+1). 

During his freshman season, Taylor landed inside the top 10 in six out of the eight tournaments he played in. He picked up his first career win as a co-medalist at the Glendale Spring Tournament (-4), while tying for third at both the Gila Monster Tournament (-1) and SMCC Tournament (-8). His play also helped SMCC reach the NJCAA Division II Golf Championship, where it placed third, to go along with a first-place finish in the NJCAA West District. 

In his time with the Cougars, Taylor posted career lows with a 9-under 63 (par-72 course) for a single round, a to-par tournament score of 17-under and a 54-hole score of 200.

In addition to his collegiate success, he enjoyed an impressive summer in 2025 that saw him tie for 14th at the Arizona Stroke Play Championship (-8) and advance past stroke play into the round of 16 at the Arizona State Amateur.
