LAS VEGAS - The UNLV women's basketball team will travel to Denver, Colo., to face the Pioneers of Denver on Monday, Dec. 6. The game will be held at Magness Arena (7,200) and will tipoff at 6:00 p.m. PST. The game may be heard live on ESPN 920 AM in Las Vegas with Bob Blum delivering the play-by-play and Andy Grossman providing the color commentary. All UNLV Lady Rebel broadcasts may also be heard live on the internet by logging onto www.unlvrebels.com.
Lady Rebels On The Air
The 1999-2000 season will mark UNLV's first on KENO AM 1460. All but two remaining Lady Rebel contests including exhibitions and any postseason action may be heard on the Las Vegas sports radio station. The two remaining broadcast dates that will be switched to another radio station are Mon., Dec. 6, and Mon., Dec. 20. Those dates will still be broadcast live, however they may be heard on ESPN AM 920 in Las Vegas. All broadcasts may also be heard live on the internet by logging onto www.unlvrebels.com. Bob Blum, the dean of West Coast broadcasters, is in his 12th season as voice of the Lady Rebels and will deliver the play-by-play. The color commentary will be provided at home by Susan Pitz, while Lady Rebel Sports Information Director Andy Grossman will perform the duties during the away contests. UNLV Head Coach Regina Miller's Radio Show may be heard prior to the tipoff of every Lady Rebel game this season. Blum will host the five minute pregame show.
The Lady Rebels
UNLV (3-2) returns five players and two starters from last year's team, which became the most improved Division I team in the nation from 1997-98 to 1998-99...Head Coach Regina Miller is in her second season with the Lady Rebels and has a 20-13 mark...She is in her eighth year as a head coach with an overall record of 80-113...UNLV lost its first game of the season at UCSB 77-56 in the first round of the Preseason Women's NIT and bounced back to defeat Southern Utah 82-68 in its home opener...The Lady Rebels split in the Cox Communications/Lady Rebel Shootout, falling to Weber State 75-72 in overtime and defeating Southeast Missouri State 69-58, and most recently defeated Northern Arizona 71-57 in Flagstaff...UNLV is led in scoring by 1998-99 national Freshman of the Year award winner Linda Fr?hlich...Fr?hlich is averaging 25.4 ppg and also leads the team in rebounding with 10.2 per contest...She leads the Mountain West Conference in scoring and is second in rebounding...Kinesha Davis is the only other Lady Rebel averaging double figures in scoring with 18.0 ppg. She is also second in rebounding with 6.3 per game...Brooke Ingalls is third in rebounding with 5.6 per game.
The Opponent
Denver (2-1) opened the season with a win at home over Colorado 71-67, then defeated Davidson 79-62 before losing at Santa Clara 72-57...Last year, Denver recorded a 12-15 mark...The Pioneers are coached by Pam Tanner who is in her fifth year at the school with a career record of 58-53...The squad has three players averaging double figures in scoring...They are Melissa Garcia (14.3), Michaela Pavlickova (13.0) and Bethie Younger (11.3)...Pavlickova leads the team in rebounding with 6.3 per game.
Priority Staffing 3-Point Tally
For every three-pointer the Lady Rebels make this season, Priority Staffing will donate 10 dollars to the Rebel Rousers. So far on the season (including exhibitions), UNLV has made 32 three-pointers which totals $320.

UNLV leads the all-time series history with Denver 1-0...UNLV won the only meeting 72-63 in Las Vegas last season.
This Season's UNLV Honors
UNLV's Linda Fr?hlich has already received some recognition during this young season. Fr?hlich was named to the Cox Communications/Lady Rebel Shootout All-Tournament team after scoring 24 points and pulling down 13 rebounds vs. Weber State and scoring 37 points and pulling down 14 rebounds vs. Southeast Missouri State. Against SEMO, Fr?hlich was three points shy of her career-high scoring total and one rebound shy of her career-high rebounding total.
For Openers...
At UCSB, UNLV lost only its fifth season opener in program history. The Lady Rebels now hold a 21-5 mark in season openers. As for home openers go, UNLV is 21-5. UNLV won its home opener this season vs. Southern Utah.
The Rebels Rank In The MWC
In the Mountain West Conference statistical leaders through games of Nov. 29, here is how UNLV ranks: UNLV is No. 1 in offensive rebounds (17.3), No. 2 in assists (16.5), defensive rebounds (26.5) and rebounding margin (+2.8). Individually, Linda Fr?hlich No. 1 in scoring (25.0) and steals (4.0), Dayna Gambill is tied for No. 1 in assists (5.8), Fr?hlich is No. 2 in rebounds (10.2) and defensive rebounds (7.25).
Four Players, One Coach Serving Suspensions
As a result of an institutional NCAA self-report, four UNLV women's basketball student-athletes and one assistant coach have received game suspensions from the athletics department for a secondary violation of a NCAA rule governing extra benefit legislation. Suspensions were imposed for Lady Rebels Kinesha Davis Linda Fr?hlich, Erin Johansson and Courtney Swanson and assistant coach Staci Schulz. Davis and Swanson missed the games vs. Southern Utah and Weber State. Fr?hlich and Johansson will miss the Lady Rebels' game against Cal State Fullerton on Tues., Dec. 28, and Johansson will sit out the Jan. 4 game against Navy. Schulz missed the Southern Utah contest.
Nov. 6 - NWBL Recap
Linda Fr?hlich scored a game-high 32 points on 12-of-18 shooting as UNLV defeated the National Women's Basketball League's USA Elite Travel Team 89-60 in an exhibition game at Lied Gymnasium Saturday, Nov. 6. After leading by only two points at halftime (41-39), the Lady Rebels outscored NWBL 48-21 in the second half. The game was the first for UNLV this season and the only one that will be held at Lied Gymnasium. The Lady Rebels also got scoring from Kinesha Davis (17 points) and Erin Johansson (14 points). Dayna Gambill dished out a game-high 8 assists, while Fr?hlich added 7. Fr?hlich also had a game-high 16 rebounds, while Brooke Ingalls pulled down 11. NWBL was led by Melissa Sanford's 23 points on 8-of-10 shooting. Delona Little pulled down a team-high 7 rebounds and Cozette Ealy led the team in assists with 7.
Nov. 10 - New Zealand Recap
Gina Falmer led all scorers with 27 points and three other New Zealanders scored in double figures as the New Zealand National Team defeated UNLV 74-60 in a women's basketball exhibition game at the Thomas & Mack Center. New Zealand outscored UNLV 20-6 over the final 4:47 of the game after the score was tied at 54. New Zealand took a 20-8 lead halfway through the first half on a 13-0 run and held the lead until the 16:29 mark in the second half when UNLV led 41-40. Donna Loffhagen scored 13 for New Zealand, while Julie Ofsoski added 12 and Rebecca Cotton contributed 10. Tracey Kelly led the team in rebounds with 7. The Lady Rebels were led in scoring and rebounding by Linda Fr?hlich with 19 points and 11 boards. Erin Johansson added 17 points on 5-of-10 three-point shooting. Constance Jinks was the only other Lady Rebel in double-figure scoring with 12 points. Dayna Gambill led the team in assists with 7.
Nov. 15 - UCSB WNIT Recap
Five Gauchos scored in double figures as No. 14 UC Santa Barbara defeated the UNLV women's basketball team 77-56 in the first round of the Preseason Women's National Invitation Tournament at The Thunderdome. UCSB outscored the Lady Rebels 21-5 over 10:14 in the second half to take a commanding 23-point lead at 67-44 with 5:11 remaining and held on for the win. Leading 32-30 with just under two minutes to play in the first half, UCSB used a 9-2 run over the remainder of the half to take a 41-32 halftime lead. UCSB (1-0) was led in scoring by Kate Christensen's 15 points. Other double-figure scorers for the Gauchos were Stacy Clinesmith with 12, Kristi Rohr with 11 and Erin Buescher with 10. Christensen led the team in rebounds with 14. Kinesha Davis led all scorers with 27 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for a double-double. Linda Fr?hlich fouled out with seven points. UNLV fell to 0-1 on the season.
Nov. 23 - Southern Utah Recap
Linda Fr?hlich scored 32 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the UNLV women's basketball team (1-1) to its first victory of the season, an 82-68 win over Southern Utah (1-1). Fr?hlich, who had 22 points at halftime, also matched a career high with three 3-point goals. The Lady Rebels, who led from start to finish in the game, held off a 10-0 run by the Thunderbirds in the second half with 18 free throws. Freshman Constance Jinks scored 12 points before fouling out in her first career start.
Nov. 27 - Weber State Recap
Crystal Howe hit a jumper with 30 seconds left and Stephanie Howard sank two free throws with 11 seconds remaining in overtime to secure a 75-72 Weber State victory over the UNLV women's basketball team in the second game of the Cox Communications/Lady Rebel Shootout at the Thomas & Mack Center. After UNLV's Erin Johnasson made two free throws with 15 seconds remaining in regulation to give the Lady Rebels a 65-62 lead, Weber State's Meghan Geddes hit a three-pointer with six seconds on the clock to send the game into overtime. Weber State led 53-47 with 7:04 left in regulation when UNLV went on a 12-3 run to tie the score at 59-59 with 3:10 to play. The Wildcats led by as many as 10 points in the first half and took a 30-21 lead into the break. Weber State (1-1) was led by Howe's game-high-tying 24 points. Shelly Olson added 17 points, while Geddes added 11. UNLV (2-1) was led by Linda Fr?hlich, who had a game-high-tying 24 points and a game-high 13 rebounds but fouled out with just under four minutes remaining in overtime. Tiana Sanders added a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Dayna Gambill dished out a game-high 7 assists for the Lady Rebels.
Nov. 28 - Southeast Missouri State Recap
Linda Fr?hlich led all players with 37 points and 14 rebounds as the UNLV women's basketball team defeated Southeast Missouri State 69-58 in the consolation game of the Cox Communications/Lady Rebel Shootout at the Thomas & Mack Center. Fr?hlich missed career highs by three points and one rebound as UNLV evened its record at 2-2. Kinesha Davis was the Lady Rebels' second-leading scorer with 16 points. SEMO (1-4) had four players score in double-figures with Paula Corder-King leading the way with 11 points. Regan Hughston had 11 rebounds with her 10 points and both Pam Iversen and Kristy Roherty added 10. With a 54-51 lead and 4:52 remaining in the game, UNLV went on a 7-0 run over 2:15 to take a 10-point lead and cruised from there for the 11-point victory. UNLV exploded out of halftime with a 13-5 run to take a four-point lead with 11:59 remaining at 44-40. SEMO led at the half 35-31.
Dec. 1 - Northern Arizona Recap
Linda Fr?hlich led all players with 27 points and 10 rebounds and UNLV had two other players in double-figure scoring as it defeated the Northern Arizona women's basketball team 71-57 at the Rolle Activity Center. Erin Johansson contributed 12 points on 4-of-8 three-point shooting and Kinesha Davis added 11 as UNLV improved its record to 3-2. Fr?hlich also had 7 steals and 4 assists. Northern Arizona (1-3) was led by Kara Kleinhenz who had 16 points. UNLV used a 15-3 run in the first half to take a 10-point lead and led 32-25 at halftime. The Lady Rebels opened the second half with an 11-1 run and led by 17 points with 15:31 left. NAU cut the Lady Rebels' lead to nine points at 46-37 with 11:42 left, however that was as close as the Lumberjacks would get as UNLV recorded the 14-point win.
UNLV Playing Sixth Game In Fourth State
The Lady Rebels have been traveling quite a bit and will continue to early in the season. UNLV's game against Denver in Colorado will be the Lady Rebels' fourth state that they will have played in this year. The other states have been California, Nevada and Arizona. UNLV's next two trips are to Reno, Nevada and to Nassau, Bahamas.
Fr?hlich Was Honored At Halftime Of Men's Game
Lady Rebel Linda Fr?hlich was honored at halftime of the UNLV men's basketball team's game vs. Georgetown on Nov. 28. Fr?hlich was presented with her award for being named the 1998-99 national Freshman of the Year.

UNLV is 5-1 all-time when Linda Fr?hlich scores 30 or more points and is 16-6 when she scores 20 or more points.
Davis Starts Hot
Kinesha Davis has started this season the way she left off after her freshman year at Western Illinois...Red Hot!...Against UCSB, Davis scored a game-high 27 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds in 37 minutes...So far this season, she is averaging 18.0 per game...At WIU two years ago, Davis broke the freshman scoring record for both the school and the Mid-Continent Conference averaging 19.4 ppg...She transferred to UNLV following the 1997-98 season and redshirted last year.
Scoring Starts At The Point
UNLV's leading scorers Linda Fr?hlich and Kinesha Davis should be thanking Dayna Gambill for finding them open so far this season. Gambill leads the team in assists with 27 (5.4) per game) and as of Nov. 29 was tied for first in the Mountain West Conference.
UNLV Team Notes
At UCSB, UNLV struggled with its shooting, only connecting on 29 percent from the field, however one statistic that improved over the exhibition season was the turnovers. In the two exhibition games, UNLV averaged 25 turnovers per contest and at UCSB, the Lady Rebels committed a season-low 16...UNLV shot 53 percent as a team from the field vs. Southern Utah...The Lady Rebels had four players score in double figures vs. Southern Utah...Against SEMO, UNLV only had two players score in double figures...Fr?hlich (37) and Davis (16)...They combined for 77 percent of the team's scoring in the win...At Northern Arizona, UNLV shot 49 percent from the field and had three players score in double figures...They were Fr?hlich (27), Johansson (12) and Davis (11)...At NAU Johansson finally broke out of her three point slump...Prior to the game she had made only 6-of-27 but against NAU she hit 4-of-8.
Runnin' Rebels' Brotherson Good, But Not First At UNLV
Current UNLV men's basketball player Danny Brotherson is getting headlines for the Runnin' Rebels, however he is not the first from his family to play basketball at UNLV. His older sister, Lori played for the Lady Rebels from 1988-89.
1998-99 In Review
Regina Miller's first season as head coach of the Lady Rebels was a memorable one. Followin are some of the major team accomplishments: The team became the most improved Division I women's basketball team in the nation. In 1997-98 the Rebels went 4-23, but improved to 17-11 in 1998-99...Their 17-11 mark in 1998-99 was their best record since the 1993-94 campaign when they went 23-7...They qualified for the WAC Tournament for the first time. Under the old WAC format, only six of the eight teams in each division qualified for the tournament...Their 73-67 win over Hawai'i in the first round of the WAC Tournament was their first conference tournament game win since 1994, when they were a member of the Big West Conference...With their 17 wins in 1998-99, they more than quadrupled their win total for the year prior and exceeded their victory total of the previous three seasons combined...Freshman Linda Fr?hlich was selected as the national Freshman of the Year by the Women's Basketball Journal and the United States Basketball Writers Association after leading the WAC in scoring with 23.5 ppg in 1998-99. She also led the nation in scoring among all freshman...Fr?hlich was selected as First-Team All-WAC Mountain Division, WAC Mountain Division Freshman of the Year, to the WAC Mountain Division All-Newcomer Team, and All-WAC Tournament...Fr?hlich was selected as WAC Mountain Division Player of the Week twice...The Lady Rebels recorded a 10-3 home record, which was their best since 1993-94 when they were 15-2 at home...They won the Golden Gopher Classic, which was their first tournament title since they won the UNLV Showboat Shootout in 1993-94. That win also marked the first tournament win on the road since the Houston Lasdy Cougar Classic in 1990-91...They won their conference opener for the first time since 1993-94 and first conference opener on the road since 1992-93.

New Faces
The Lady Rebels welcome nine new faces this year. They are Carlesa Dixon, Dayna Gambill, Constance Jinks, Viveca L?f (will have to sit out this year after transferring), Dishawn McCracklin, Talisha Mitchell, Marenna Nyffeler, Heidi Plummer and Tiana Sanders.
Fr?hlich All-Everything
Sophomore Linda Fr?hlich has been tabbed a 1999-2000 third-team preseason All-American by the Women's Basketball News Service. Last year she was selected as the national Freshman of the Year by the Women's Basketball Journal as well as the United States Basketball Writers' Association. She was selected first team All-WAC for the Mountain Division, named Freshman of the Year for the WAC's Mountain Division, named to the WAC Mountain Division's all-newcomer team and selected as All-WAC Tournament. She was named UNLV Sportswoman of the Year, selected as WAC Mountain Division's Player of the Week twice (Nov. 30, Jan. 4), named tournament MVP at the Golden Gopher Classic in Minneapolis, Minn., and was named all-tournament at the Four Queens Shootout in Las Vegas. She also led the WAC in scoring with 23.5 ppg, was sixth in the nation in scoring and first among all freshman, led the team in rebounding with 9.2 rpg, which was second in the WAC and tied for 36th in the nation, she led the team in steals and was tied for first in the WAC and 30th in the nation with 2.9 spg and she led the team in field goal percentage at .462 and was seventh in the WAC. In addition, she was second on the team in free throw percentage with .767 and was 12th in the WAC, tied for 10th in the WAC in blocks per game with 0.9 and recorded 12 double-doubles, including one triple-double.
Fr?hlich Voted Mountain West Conference's Top Returner
Sophomore Linda Fr?hlich led the way on the Mountain West Conference's preseason all-conference team as she was voted both the coaches and media's choice as top returning player in the conference. Also named to both squads were Utah's Lori Red, Colorado State's Heather Haanen and BYU's Cady Williams. Rounding out the coaches' five-member team was New Mexico's Miranda Sanchez. The media chose BYU's Jill Adams.
Head Coach Regina Miller
Regina Miller is in her second season as head coach of the Lady Rebel basketball program. In her first season, Miller led a team that had gone 4-23 the year prior to a 17-11 mark making the squad the most improved in all of Division I women's basketball from 1997-98 to 1998-99. She also led the team to its first-ever WAC Tournament berth and the team's first conference tournament victory since 1994. Miller came to UNLV from Western Illinois where she was the head coach of the Westerwinds six seasons. While at WIU, she led the Westerwinds to the 1995 regular season and post-season conference championships, and the NCAA Tournament. She was also honored as the 1995 Illinois Basketball Coaches Association's Coach of the Year. Prior to earning the post at WIU, where she compiled a record of 60-100, Miller spent five years an assistant coach at her alma mater and national power Old Dominion from 1987-92. ODU reached the NCAA Tournament four of the five years she was there. She landed her first assistant coaching position at Arizona (1986-87) and spent two years (1985-86) as a graduate assistant at Western Kentucky as it made the Final Four both years she was there. At UNLV her record is 20-13, while her career head coaching record is 80-113.
Assistant Coaches
UNLV's assistant coaches are Kristen Cole, Brenda Pantoja and Staci Schulz, while the director of basketball operations is Ayanna Hines. Cole, who is in her first year, came to UNLV from Auburn where she served as an assistant coach since the summer of 1996. Cole graduated from Notre Dame in 1994 where she played basketball. Pantoja, who is in her first year, came to UNLV from Long Beach State where she was an assistant coach since 1997. Pantoja graduated from Arizona in 1996 where she played basketball. Staci Schulz, who is in her second year, came to UNLV from Western Illinois where she was an assistant coach for one season. Schulz was a player at Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D., where she graduated from in 1996. Hines, who is in her frist year, came to UNLV from the WBCA where she was an events manager. Hines graduated from Howard in 1994.
Lady Rebels Will Play First Full Season In The Mack This Year
This season marks the first full season that the Lady Rebels will play at the Thomas & Mack Center. In the past, UNLV played most of its home games at Lied Gymnasium, however over the years the Lady Rebels have played in the big building. The Lady Rebels have hosted 96 regular season games at the T&M over 17 years and has a mark of 74-23 (.763) in those games.
Up Next
UNLV will spend almost all of the month of December on the road because of the Thomas & Mack Center hosting the National Finals Rodeo. The Lady Rebels played at Northern Arizona on Dec. 1, and will face Denver in Colorado on Dec. 6. After that, UNLV will be at Nevada, Reno on Dec. 11, and then travel to the Bahamas on Dec. 20-21 for a tournament with Liberty, Duke and Cal State Sacramento. UNLV will be back at the T&M on Dec. 28 to host Cal State Fullerton.

Admission for UNLV Lady Rebel basketball games is $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for students, faculty, staff and Senior Rebel Club members. UNLV students and Junior Rebel Club members will be admitted free of charge. Groups of up to 20 people are $15 and groups over 20 people are $1 per person.
