Anderson Helps U.S. to Second Palmer Cup Win

LAS VEGAS - The United States' team of collegians defeated their counterparts from Great Britain and Ireland 17 1/2 to 6 1/2 in the third annual Palmer Cup, which was held at the Honors Course in Ooltewah, Tenn., June 12-13.

It was America's second victory in the event, which pits the top college golfers from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. The U.S. won the inaugural Palmer Cup 19-5 at the Bay Hill Club in Orlando, Fla., and the two sides tied 12-12 last year at the Old Course in St. Andrews, Scotland.

UNLV's Jeremy Anderson participated in his second consecutive Palmer Cup at the Honors Course and turned in a record of 3-1 for the event. Anderson won two individual matches, won one doubles match and lost one doubles match.

In Saturday morning's fourball competition (best ball), a team of Luke Donald and Phillip Rowe (GB&I) defeated Jeremy Anderson and Matt Kuchar (USA), 4-4. During Saturday afternoon's fourball (alternate shot), Hank Kuehne and Anderson defeated Rowe and Michael Hoey, 3-2. In Sunday morning's singles play, Anderson defeated Kyron Sullivan, 2-1, and in Sunday afternoon's singles Anderson defeated Oliver Lindsay, 5-4.
