Fresno State Defeats Men's Tennis

LAS VEGAS - The Fresno State men's tennis team rebounded after losing the doubles point to defeat host UNLV 5-2 in WAC action at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Friday.

The 53rd-ranked Rebels dropped to 5-7 while the 33rd-ranked Bulldogs improved to 10-7.

UNLV opened the day by winning two of three doubles matches for one team point. Asaf Tishler and Gregor Skorin won 8-2 at the second position while Nenad Zivkovic and Damu Bobb teamed to clinch at the top spot 9-8.

In singles play, FSU jumped to a 3-1 lead before Tishler rallied to win at the No. 1 spot, 1-6, 6-0, 6-1, over 63rd-ranked Peter Luczak for his 10th consecutive victory.

The Bulldogs then came from behind in the two remaining matches in three sets for the team win.

Next up, Tishler will play his final home match Sunday as part of the annual Senior Day when UNLV hosts Arkansas-Little Rock at noon.
