ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (UNLVRebels.com) – The UNLV men's tennis team took care of business on the road Saturday with a workmanlike 4-0 win at New Mexico at the McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium.
 
The Rebels improved to 13-6 overall and 4-2 in the Mountain West while the Lobos fell to 8-13 and 1-4.
 
UNLV took a 1-0 lead after doubles by winning two of three matches – all of which ended in 6-4 scores. While UNM upset the ranked Rebel duo at the top spot, Marko Maksimovic and Illia Maksymchuk downed Connor Dils and Tyler Waddock at the second position before Taiyo Hirano and Michael Koume clinched it over Philip Bosin and Dario Ciobotaru on court three.
 
In singles play, 57th-ranked Ilia Snitari breezed by Ciobotaru, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 1; Hirano swept Dils, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 6 and then Maksimovic finished things off vs. Bosin, 6-2, 6-3, at the second spot.
 
REBEL OF THE MATCH: While he suffered a rare doubles defeat, sophomore All-American Ilia Snitari did something that no one had done in more than four years, beating the No. 1 player from New Mexico in Albuquerque. His straight-setter broke the Lobos' 30-match win streak at the top of the singles lineup -- dating back to Jan. 23, 2022.
 
UP NEXT: UNLV will close out its Mountain West schedule with a visit to Boise State next Saturday.
