LECANTO, Fla. - Floridian Jeremy Anderson made himself right at home Saturday, turning in a second-round 67 to lift UNLV to an eight-stroke overall lead at the 1999 Compaq U.S. Collegiate Golf Championships.
UNLV's Anderson, of Lake Mary, Fla., and Seminole High School, holds the tournament's individual top spot at 9-under-par 135 through two rounds of the 54-hole invitational at the acclaimed Black Diamond Ranch. The Rebel junior fired an opening-round 68 Friday.
"I have managed my game really well," Anderson said. "I've only had one bogey for 36 holes. When I have hit some good shots, I've taken advantage of them."
Hunter Haas of Oklahoma trails Anderson by two strokes at 7-under after a second-round 67. Haas was 4-under on a back nine featuring Black Diamond's remarkable No. 13 through 18 holes surrounding a quarry lake.
Anderson's UNLV teammate Chris Berry is tied for third with New Mexico's Wil Collins
