LAS VEGAS - Adrian Peterson and Desmond Mason each scored 21 points as No. 25 Oklahoma State beat UNLV 81-69 Tuesday night.
Oklahoma State (7-3) led by only two points with 4:32 left before going on a 16-2 run to put the game out of reach. Joe Adkins scored nine of his 10 points on three 3-point shots to spark the rally.
Doug Gottlieb had 15 assists for the Cowboys.
Shawn Marion and Kaspars Kambala led UNLV (4-6) with 18 points apiece. Kevin Simmons added 16 points for the Rebels, who lost their fourth straight.
Oklahoma State led at halftime 37-33. UNLV scored the first six points of the second half to take a two-point advantage, and neither team led by more than five points until the Cowboys got hot at the end.
Oklahoma State built an 11-point lead with 5:03 remaining in the first half after holding UNLV without a field goal for six minutes.
The Rebels cut the lead to 33-29 as Kambala and Marion each scored inside. Adkins made one free throw for Oklahoma State, but Kambala and Simmons hit free throws to pull UNLV to within 34-33 with 1:24 left.
Gottlieb made a 3-pointer with 29 seconds left in the half to give Oklahoma State its four-point lead at the intermission.
