Dontrez Williams To Join Men's Basketball Program

6-foot-5-inch guard to transfer to the Runnin' Rebels from Lindenwood.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) - The UNLV men's basketball program has received a signed commitment from Dontrez Williams to join the Runnin' Rebels for the 2026-27 season, head coach Josh Pastner announced Wednesday.
Williams, a 6-foot-5-inch, 195-pound guard originally from Sikeston, Missouri, is transferring from Lindenwood, where he played as a sophomore during the 2025-26 season. Before that, he played his freshman year at Abilene Christian.

As a starter for Lindenwood this past season, Williams was his team's third-leading scorer, averaging 15.2 points per game. He also recorded 5.1 rebounds per contest, ranked eighth in the country with 2.6 steals per game, and finished with 2.1 assists per contest.

He was named Second Team All-Ohio Valley Conference and earned All-Newcomer Team honors. In addition, he was a two-time OVC Newcomer of the Week. He recorded double figures in scoring in 25 games with 20 or more points on seven occasions. He had a career-high 24 points at Tennessee State in February. He also recorded three double-doubles, which included a career-high 11 rebounds twice, and had a career-high seven steals in a game in January.

"Dontrez is an elite two-way player who brings great size, versatility, and toughness to our program," Pastner said. "He has active hands on the defensive end, guards the ball at a high level, and was one of the top players in the country in steals. Offensively, he is a physical, downhill guard who lives in the paint, finishes at the rim, and is elite in transition. As a big guard/wing, he fits our system extremely well, and we believe he will thrive in the open court with the way we want to play."

As a freshman at ACU, he was named to the WAC All-Freshman Team after appearing in 32 games and averaging 5.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. He scored in double figures four times that season, pouring in a season-high 16 points on two occasions.

At Sikeston High School, he was a two-time all-state and all-academic selection and a three-time all-conference and all-district player.

Williams joins Terrance Ford Jr.Jeremy FoumenaTyler HarrisCam Miles, and MJ Thomas as incoming players to the Runnin' Rebel program for the 2026-27 season.

COMMITTED RETURNING REBELS: Tyrin Jones and Issac Williamson have both committed to return to the program in 2026-27 after playing as freshmen in 2025-26. Jones was selected to the Mountain West's All-Defensive Team and earned honorable mention All-MW honors. He averaged 11.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, while leading the league in blocks with 2.2 per contest. Williamson scored 8.6 points per game.
