Rebel Softball Downs Tulsa 2-1

April 18, 1999

LAS VEGAS - Another solid pitching performance by freshman Nicole Truax gave UNLV its 2-1 victory over conference foe Tulsa Sunday at Rebel Diamond. Truax picked up her second win in as many days over the Golden Hurricane while striking out a career-high 11 batters.

UNLV scored early with a run in the first inning on a RBI-single by Raven Coberg. They added their second run in the Rebel half of the third as Nicole Miller's double drove in Erica Vollweiler. From there Truax was able to shut down the Tulsa offense as she allowed six hits and threw a shut out through six and two-thirds innings. The Golden Hurricane mounted a comeback in the top of the seventh as they loaded the bases but could convert only one run. With the win the Rebels won what could prove to be a very important conference series as the race to the WAC Championships May 13-15 gets close.

The Rebels will go back on the road next weekend for a conference series against New Mexico before concluding the regular season with home games against Utah May 7-8.
