UNLV Fourth at GolfWorld After One Round

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The fourth-ranked UNLV golf team is in fourth place after one round at the 18-team GolfWorld/Palmetto Dunes Collegiate Invitational in Hilton Head, S.C.

The Rebels, playing on the par-72, 6,651-yard Arthur Hills at Palmetto Dunes Golf Course, are two shots back of leaders Houston and South Carolina. Both teams shot a first-round total of 286, two-under par. East Tennessee State is third at 287, UNLV shot even-par 288 and Georgia Tech and Georgia are both tied for fifth at 289.

Individually, UNLV is led by senior Charley Hoffman, who shot a two-under 70 and sits in a tie for sixth place. David Christensen of East Tennessee State leads all individual at four-under 68.

Other Rebels competing were junior Michael Kirk and sophomore Scott Lander who are both tied for 18th at even-par 72, junior Jeremy Anderson who is tied for 42nd at two-over 74 and senior Chris Berry who is tied for 46th at three-over 75.

Play at the 54-hole tournament continues Saturday and wraps up Sunday.
