LAS VEGAS - UNLV had 10 student-athletes selected to the 1997-98 Western Athletic Conference Freshman and First-Year-Student Academic All-WAC Team, which was announced for all fall, winter and spring sports.

To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, have completed one academic year at their respective institution and have competed in 50 percent of their teams contests. This is the first year the award has been given.
