Women's Basketball Defeats Air Force 78-45

LAS VEGAS - Freshman Linda Froehlich scored 17 of her game-high 23 points in the second half and UNLV had five total players in double figures in scoring as it defeated Air Force 78-45 in a Western Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday at Lied Gymnasium.

After Air Force scored the first basket of the game, UNLV scored the next 10 points to lead 10-2 with 14:20 left in the first half. UNLV increased its advantage to 16 points with a 14-0 run over 4:07 and led 25-9 with 3:18 left in the first half. The Lady Rebels led 33-19 at halftime.

UNLV allowed Air Force to score only eight points through the first 9:40 of the second half, while the Lady Rebels went on a 25-8 run during that span to take control of the game.

UNLV's (13-7, 4-4 WAC) four other players in double figures in scoring were senior Kristen Pool (12), senior Liz Wolfe (11), senior Angalete Dye (10), and senior Eishia Brightwell (10). It marked the second game in a row the Lady Rebels had five players score 10 points or more.

Froehlich led the Lady Rebels in rebounds with nine, while Pool tallied a game-high seven assists.

Air Force (5-15, 0-8 WAC) was led by freshman Rozalyn Russ' career-high 18 points.

The win marked UNLV's fifth in a row vs. Air Force and exceeded its combined win total from the past three years (12).

UNLV's next action will be at home on Thursday, Feb. 11 as it host Tulsa at 7:35 p.m. at Lied Gymnasium.
