Women's Soccer Picks Up Win In Double Overtime

Las Vegas - UNLV's women's soccer team picked up its first Western Athletic Conference victory when it defeated San Jose State 2-1 in double overtime Sunday.

Janae Sims headed in the winning goal off an Amy Scala throw-in at the 115:34 mark. It was Sims' third goal on the season and her second in the last two games. She is now tied for second on the team in goals scored.

The Spartans opened the scoring with a goal from Karli Silveira at the 43:29 mark. The Rebels responded a minute later with a goal from Stephanie Sutter at the 44:37.

The Rebels are now 8-4-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the WAC's Pacific Division. It was the Rebels' final home game of the season. The team begins a season-ending road trip on Wednesday when it travels to San Diego State.
