Cross Country Finishes Third.

FULLERTON, CA - All seven members ran college career bests as the UNLV cross country team ran to an impressive third place finish at the Jammin? Invitational Saturday.

In their first competition of 1999, the Rebels finished just two points behind San Diego State. UCLA won the women?s race, capturing four of the top five individual finishes and scoring 18 points.

The Rebels were led on the morning by senior Stephanie Davidson (Renton, WA/Coll. Of Southern Idaho), who shattered her career best by more than 30 seconds, finished 12th in the University Division in 18:34.6.

Newcomer transfer Jenni Nelson (Seattle, WA/Univ. of Montana) followed Davidson in 13th in 18:35.6.

?Stephanie and Jenni spent the summer training together in Seattle and it really showed today,? distance coach Mary Shea said.

Senior Kathryn Goetz (Denver, CO/Univ. of Nevada, Reno) marked her return from a redshirt season by running a career best, also. She trimmed 31 seconds off her 5-kilometer time, clocking a 19:10.2 and finishing 26th.

As a team, UNLV posted the second-best average on the clock at 19:02.62.
