Men's Tennis Falls To Top-Ranked UCLA

WESTWOOD, Calif. - The UNLV men?s tennis team, in its first competition of the season, was swept by top-ranked UCLA Thursday, 7-0.

Only Rebel Gregor Skorin was able to capture a set for the No. 49 Rebels (0-1), stealing the first one from the Bruins? Erfan Djahangiri before falling 3-6, 6-0, 6-3.

The Bruins (2-0) began the day with a sweep of the three doubles matches for one team point. UNLV?s top doubles team of Vladimir Pavicevic and Nenad Zivcovic battled UCLA?s Jong-Min Lee and Jean-Julien Rojer, but dropped an 8-6 decision in the afternoon?s closest match.

UCLA then rattled off six straight singles wins to complete the sweep.

The Rebels will complete their road trip with matches against Southern California on Friday and Pepperdine on Saturday.
