LAS VEGAS (AP) - Leonard Stokes scored 23 points as No. 17 Cincinnati spoiled the debut of new UNLV coach Max Good with a 90-72 victory over the Runnin' Rebels on Saturday night.
Good replaced Bill Bayno, who was fired this week hours after the NCAA put UNLV's basketball team on four years' probation. Good was in his second season as an assistant to Bayno, who was 94-64 as UNLV's head coach.
Steve Logan scored 21 points for the Bearcats (5-1), and Kenny Satterfield added 18.
Dalron Johnson led UNLV (3-5) with 17 points, 15 in the second half. Trevor Diggs had 13 points and leading scorer Kaspars Kambala added 12, but only four in the second half.
The Rebels started fast Saturday, taking a 12-2 lead. But Cincinnati responded with a 28-6 run to go ahead 30-18.
Cincinnati's lead was down to 43-37 at halftime.
But the Bearcats started the second half with a 15-8 spurt to go ahead 58-45. After the Rebels closed to 73-63 with less than 10 minutes remaining, Cincinnati put together a 9-1 run.
