LAS VEGAS (AP) - Kaspars Kambala scored 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds Monday night to lead UNLV to a 101-71 victory over Alaska-Anchorage.

Kambala scored 15 of his points during a 28-11 run that opened the second half and turned a 49-41 Runnin' Rebels halftime lead into a 77-52 advantage. The Rebels, who shot 63 percent from the field in the second half, did the majority of the damage during a 3:39 stretch in which they outscored the Seawolves 12-0.

Three other Rebels also scored in double figures for UNLV (4-5). Danny Brotherson had 15 points, Trevor Diggs 12 points and Jermaine Lewis 11.

Alaska-Anchorage (4-3) actually led for much of the first half, thanks to the play of guard Ed Kirk, who had a game high 32 points, including 20 in the first half, to go with six assists.

The victory, which snapped a three-game losing streak, was the first for head coach Max Good, who took over last week after Bill Bayno was dismissed.
