Diggs Paces Rebels To Third Straight Victory

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Trevor Diggs scored a career-high 34 points and UNLV overcame a sluggish first half Thursday night to defeat Monmouth, N.J., 81-70, in front of a home crowd.

Diggs, who scored the Rebels' first 12 points, finished 11-of-17 from the field, including 4-for-8 from 3-point range. The senior guard had seven of his points during a 14-4 run in the second half that gave UNLV (6-5) a 64-54 lead.

The Rebels forced 18 first half turnovers, yet still trailed 27-26 due to cold shooting. UNLV made just two of its first 16 shots and finished with 31 percent shooting in the first half.

Kaspars Kambala added 16 points and seven rebounds and Dalron Johnson scored 12 for the Rebels, who won their third straight game.

Gerry Crosby led Monmouth (6-3) with 21 points and Kevin Owens added 18.
