LAS VEGAS - The 71st-ranked UNLV women's tennis team lost only one doubles match en route to a 8-1 defeat of unranked Bowling Green at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Friday.
The Lady Rebels, who broke a two-match losing streak, improved to 8-6. The Falcons fell to 5-4.
At the No. 1 spot, 41st-ranked Katarina Malec of UNLV won her 12th match in her last 14 outings to move to 25-5 overall. The senior downed Abby Bratton 6-0, 6-0. Also winning for the Lady Rebels were Veronica Goude at No. 2, Marianne Bakken at No. 3, Urska Radanovic at No. 4, Michaela Gabl at No. 5 and Amy Hadziosmanovic at No. 6.
In doubles, the 36th-ranked team of Malec and Bakken won at the top spot to move to 15-3 this season. Goude and Hadziosmanovic also won at the third position for the Lady Rebels' final point.
UNLV next hosts Tulsa, Saturday at 10 a.m.
