Last Time Out
In its last game, UNLV held off a late scare from San Diego State to win its third straight game of the season and third straight home game over a Mountain West Conference opponent, 69-63. Linda Fr?hlich got off to an early start, scoring 19 points and pulling down 10 rebounds by halftime and putting her club on top, 40-29. The Lady Rebels went up by 21 with 12 minutes to play before the Aztecs went on a 25-5 run to pull within one. UNLV hit six free throws down the stretch, however, to hold on for the win.
Rebels Will Be No. 5
Regardless of the outcome of this weekend's Lady Rebel games, UNLV will enter the Mountain West Conference Tournament as the No. 5 seed. It is currenly two games behind BYU with two to play, but the Cougars swept the season series. The Lady Rebels have a three-game advantage over sixth-place Wyoming, which locks them into the No. 5 slot. BYU is fourth in the league entering this week and would be the Lady Rebels' first round opponent if the season were to end today. However, with three MWC teams log jammed at the top of the standings at 9-3 (Colorado State, Utah and New Mexico) and BYU just a game behind at 8-4, any combination of things could affect the final conference standings. UNLV will face one of those four teams at 6:00 p.m. PDT on Thursday, March 8 in the Thomas and Mack Center.
Lady Rebels Packed the 'Mack
A season-best 1,152 fans witnessed the Lady Rebels' 65-50 victory over New Mexico as part of UNLV's Pack the 'Mack promotion.
