LAS VEGAS (AP) - Kaspars Kambala scored 19 points, 13 in the second half, and had seven rebounds to lead UNLV to an 80-67 win Saturday against New Mexico.
A layup by Lamont Long put New Mexico (17-12, 9-5 Mountain West) ahead 6-4 just 3 1/2 minutes into the game, the team's only lead. Long finished with 18 points. Damion Walker added 15 points and 12 rebounds. Wayland White had 13 points. New Mexico never got closer than nine points, 50-41, with 15:58 to play.
Trevor Diggs hit a three-pointer with 15:06 remaining in the first half to put UNLV (20-7, 10-4) up 9-6. Diggs finished with 12 points. Dalron Johnson added 15 points and eight rebounds, and Mark Dickel had 12 points and 12 assists.
New Mexico shot 33 percent in the first half, making 10-of-30 to UNLV's 43 percent first half shooting. New Mexico shot 39 percent in the second half.
