Miller Receives Contract Extension

Aug. 15, 2000

LAS VEGAS - UNLV women's basketball coach Regina Miller, who guided the Rebels to back-to-back 17-win seasons, has received a two-year contract extension, the school announced Monday.

Miller's new contract will keep her on the Lady Rebels' bench until at least 2003. That deal includes the 2000-01 season, which was the final year of her original contract.

"We are thrilled with the direction that Regina Miller has taken this program in two years," Director of Athletics Charles Cavagnaro said. "She works exceptionally hard and does a great job, and we are fortunate to have her directing our program for the next three years."

After inheriting a program that won only four games in the three seasons prior to her arrival, Miller has posted two straight winning seasons and opened up international recruiting lines that have landed her some prized recruits, including All-American Linda Fr?hlich of Oldendorf, Germany. She led UNLV to its first appearances and victories in both the WAC and Mountain West Conference women's basketball tournaments.

UNLV opens the 2000-01 season at home against Texas-San Antonio on Nov. 20.
