Women's Soccer Falls To Iowa

LOGAN, Utah - The UNLV women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 match to Iowa on Saturday in the final round of the Utah State Invitational, leveling the Rebels' record at 2-2.

The Hawkeyes (3-0) dominated the game, out shooting the Rebels 21-10. Senior Shelly Batra scored the first goal at the 23:15 mark from 10-yards out. No more than 20 seconds later, sophomore Sarah Lynch fired a 7-yard shot from the left side to put the Hawkeyes up 2-0.

UNLV had their chances to climb back into the match, firing ten shots and having eight of them be on goal, but were unable to capitalize. Sophomore Cosette Joffs led the team in shots, with three, junior Anita Pedford and sophomore Cristyn Enea each added two shots.

The Rebels will return to Las Vegas for their home opener Thursday night, when they entertain Idaho at 7:00.
