PROVO, Utah - The UNLV volleyball team lost to No. 15 BYU 15-5, 15-1, 4-15, 15-8 in the first Mountain West Conference match of the season for both teams at Smith Fieldhouse.

BYU (8-3, 1-0 MWC) had three players in double figures in kills. Nina Puikkonen led all players with 11, while Jackie Bundy and Sunny Tonga each had 10. Bundy had a match-high-tying nine digs, while Melissa Layton also recorded nine.

UNLV (0-10, 0-1 MWC) was led by Oge Fitz' seven kills. Maria Julia Goes recorded team-highs of seven digs and 24 assists.

UNLV will be back in action Saturday night at No. 18 Utah.
