Sept. 23, 2000

SEATTLE, Wash. - Seniors Katie Barto (Henderson/Green Valley) and Jenni Lopez (Renton, Wash./Montana) finished in the top 10 as the UNLV cross country team finished sixth at the Sundodger Invitational Saturday.

Barto collected her first top-10 finish since last year's UNLV Invitational and was the Rebels top scorer for the first time in her career, finishing seventh overall and finishing the 6-kilometer course in 21:44.30.

Lopez crossed the line right behind her teammate, clocking 21:48.67 and finishing eighth. The senior duo has led the Rebels in both of their races this season.

Newcomer Kelly O'Connor (Bellingham, Wash./Bellingham) finished 43rd in her UNLV debut, clocking 23:47.50, while freshmen Candace Happ-Rausch (Henderson/Green Valley) and Ajia Moreno (Las Vegas/Cimarron-Memorial) rounded out the lineup, finishing 54th (26:00.20) and 56th (28:22.86) respectively.

The Rebels remain idle for two weeks before competing in the Long Beach Invitational on Oct. 7.
