Storyline:The UNLV men's soccer team hosts the Coors Classic this weekend at Johann Field ... the Rebels entertain Loyola Marymount on Friday at 7:00 p.m. and Grand Canyon on Sunday at 12:00 p.m. The other half of the tournament features Tulsa battling St. Mary's at 9:00 on Friday and on Sunday, Loyola Marymount plays Tulsa at 2:00 ... last week in the season opener, the Rebels defeated Ohio State 3-0 in the first round of the UNLV FILA/Snickers Rebel Classic... on Sunday, the Rebels met up with Notre Dame and both schools played a marathon double overtime match, ending in a 0-0 tie ... the Rebels haven't given up a goal in three consecutive home games, dating back to Oct. 24, 1999, a 1-0 victory over San Diego State.

UNLV Head Coach Barry Barto:The winningest coach in the history of Rebel soccer, Barto begins his 19th season at the helm of the UNLV men's program and his fourth as the school's Director of Soccer ... he has a record of 177-137-34 (.557) at UNLV and a career record of 262-162-40 (.608) in 24 years of coaching ... since his arrival in 1982, Barto has built Rebel soccer into a nationally recognized program, with five NCAA tournament appearances ... he recorded his 250th career win on Oct. 6, 1998 with the team's victory over St. Mary's.

About Loyola Marymount:The Lions 2-0, off to their best start in school history and ranked sixth in the West Region by the Soccer Coaches Association of America, opend the season with a pair of shutout victories over Detroit Mercy, 2-0 and an overtime win over Loyola of Chicago, 1-0 ... coach Paul Krumpe enters his third season at LMU and returns ten starters from last year's 8-8-3 team ... Krumpe also gained West Coast Conference Coach of the Year honors ... top returnees this season for the Lions are sophomore Arturo Torres and Spencer Reeves.

About Grand Canyon: The Antelopes (1-1-1) come off a 1-1- tie against Humboldt State, make their second trip to Las Vegas in less than a month ... the Rebels and the `Lopes met on Sunday Aug. 27 in a exhibiton game that ended 3-3 ... Grand Canyon, a Division II institution from Phoenix, Ariz., finished 1999 with an impressive 17-4 record and 12-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association ... head coach Petar Draskin enters his eighth season with a record of 81-50-14 ... Draskin has four returning letterwinners from last season, including senior goalkeeper Mark Wilson who compiled 1640 minutes at goal, 94 saves and a 1.04 GAA.
