UNLV Falls To BYU, 91-63

PROVO, Utah (AP) - Trent Whiting scored 17 of his game-high 26 points in the first half and led BYU to a 91-63 win over UNLV Monday night.

BYU (13-4 overall, 2-0 Mountain West Conference) led by 19 points at the half.

UNLV (10-7, 1-2) fought back to within 14 points early in the second half, but BYU went on a 9-2 run that pushed the lead to 21 midway through the second half.

Terell Lyday scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half for BYU, and Mekeli Wesley added 14 points as the Cougars stretched their home winning streak to 15 games.

Dalron Johnson led UNLV with 24 points.

BYU has won its last five games by more than 16 points.

UNLV center Kaspars Kambala entered the game as the Rebels' leading scorer, averaging 18.3 points per game, but was held to a career low two points.
