LAS VEGAS - The UNLV Department of Athletics will sponsor "Pack the Mack 2," a special promotion set for the UNLV women's basketball game on Saturday, Feb. 3 against Wyoming in which the school hopes break the state record for attendance at a women's basketball game.
To encourage attendance, all tickets for the game have been discounted to $2, and for every ticket sold, UNLV will donate $1 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Las Vegas.
The state record for women's basketball attendance is 3,754, set in 1985 when the Lady Rebels hosted San Diego State in an NCAA Tournament game. The University of Nevada, Reno is making its own attempt to top the state mark on Sunday, Feb. 4, and UNLV would like to raise the bar before the Wolf Pack take their chance.
To help achieve the lofty attendance mark, UNLV is encouraging local businesses to purchase groups of discounted tickets and donate them to area schools and youth centers. The business that purchases the most tickets will be recognized at both a men's and women's home basketball game.
Last season's "Pack the Mack" promotion against New Mexico drew a season-high 1,152 fans to the Thomas & Mack Center, and the Lady Rebels defeated the Lobos, 65-50.
This year's game features UNLV against Mountain West Conference rival Wyoming and is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 3 at 7:35 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center. For more information or to purchase tickets, please contact Ben Chulick in the UNLV Sports Marketing Office at 895-0673 or call 895-UNLV.
