Volleyball Defeats Wyoming In Five

LARAMIE, Wyo. - The UNLV volleyball team picked up a 3-2 (30-24, 20-30, 30-32, 30-28, 16-14) victory over Wyoming in Laramie Saturday night. The Rebels came back from seven points down in the fourth game to force a fifth and deciding game.

With the win, UNLV improves to 8-10 overall, 5-7 in the Mountain West Conference. Wyoming falls to 8-10 overall, 3-6 in league play.

Patricia Assuncao joined the 20-kill club with a match-high 23 kills. She hit .319 (23-8-47) with four digs.

Blair Wilkes knocked down 15 kills with a .414 (15-3-29) attack percentage. She also led the team with four block assists.

Michelle Johnson finished with 11 kills and six digs, while Leiana Oswald added ten kills and seven digs.

Sheila Ocasio-Clemente, who leads the nation in blocks per game, managed only three block assists to go along with nine kills.

Freshman setter Nicki King finished with a season-high 60 assists and led the team with 15 digs.

The Cowgirls were led by Melissa Robinett and Rachel Lau, who each finished with 20 kills.

The Rebels play only one game in the coming week, a Friday night home match with San Diego State. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
