SAN DIEGO, Calif. - UNLV volleyball fell to the University of San Diego 3-0 (30-20, 30-27, 30-26) in non-conference play on Thursday night. The loss drops the Rebels to 5-6 on the season, while the Toreros improve to 10-3.
Patricia Assuncao led the Rebel attack with ten kills. Leiana Oswald finished with seven kills and a .400 attack percentage (7-1-15).
Sheila Ocasio-Clemente, who currently leads the nation in blocks, knocked down ten blocks on the night, one solo and nine assisted. She also notched six kills in the match.
Michelle Johnson teamed with teamed with Ocasio-Clemente for five block assists. She also knocked down five kills.
Freshman setter Nicki King returned to the line-up after missing a pair of matches last weekend. She finished the match with 20 assists, two kills and six digs. Amy Lewis also saw time at the setter spot, finishing with seven assists.
San Diego was led by Noel Frohman who knocked down 18 kills on 47 attacks.
UNLV resumes conference play on Friday when the team takes on San Diego State at 7 p.m.
