LAS VEGAS - Junior midfielder Cristyn Enea scored the game-winning goal with less than five minutes remaining in regulation to lead the UNLV women's soccer team to a 1-0 shutout over Washington State Sunday afternoon at Peter Johann Memorial Field in Las Vegas.
After the Rebels and Cougars went nearly the entire game without a score, senior Marni Polakow set-up the eventual game-winner at the 85:10 mark to eliminate any possibility of sending the game into extra periods.
Senior goalkeeper Alice Gleason deflected all of Washington State's five shots on goal, to claim her first shutout of the season. UNLV improves to 1-0-1, while WSU falls to 0-2.
The Rebels next travel to the San Diego State Tournament, where they will face Kansas on Friday, Sept. 7 at 3:30 p.m. and South Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 10:30 a.m.
