Women's Tennis Dominates Day One

LAS VEGAS - UNLV's contingent dominated day one of the school's own women's tennis fall invitational at the Fertitta Tennis Complex Friday.

Lady Rebel entrants finished 7-1 in the flighted competition that also featured players from Minnesota, Oklahoma State and LSU.

In the top singles flight junior Paulina Janus swept Amy Thomas of Minnesota 6-4, 6-3. Also winning in singles were freshmen Tracie Chong and Gyorgyi Zsiros in the second flight and Amy Hadziosmanovic in the third flight. Another UNLV player, Marianne Bakken enjoyed a bye.

In doubles play, Janus and partner Aga Abram advanced by default in the top flight while Bakken and Zsiros won in the Flight Two and Chang and Hadziosmanovic won in Flight Three.

Second-round action is Saturday with finals scheduled for Sunday.
