LAS VEGAS - UNLV players won two of three singles flights and all three doubles flights at the third annual Women's Tennis Fall Invitational, which concluded Sunday.
Lady Rebel freshman Tracie Chong defeated teammate Gyorgi Zsiros 5-0 (retired) to win the second flight. Marianne Bakken also had to down her own teammate, Amy Hadziosmanovic, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 (10-7) for the third flight title. Tami Botts of LSU rallied past Katia Vasylyeva of Oklahoma State, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, to win the top flight.
Paulina Janus teamed with Agnieszka Abram to win the Flight One doubles title while Bakken and Zsirosw took flight two and Chong and Hadziosmanovic won flight three.
"I'm proud of how our players competed this weekend and it's clear to me that we are ready to make a big jump this season," UNLV head coach Kevin Cory said. "We had players from two of the nation's top 25-ranked programs here and we dominated at almost every spot."
