LAS VEGAS - Both the men's and women's UNLV tennis teams were No. 57 in the 2002 preseason ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, which were released Tuesday.
The Lady Rebels, who went into last season ranked 59th in the 75-team poll, finished last season No. 60 after turning in a record of 11-12.
"I am excited about the spring season coming up," head coach Kevin Cory said. "We have a challenging schedule but I think we are prepared to be successful. Obviously, we have a lot of room to move up."
The women open team play on Feb. 1 by hosting 73rd-ranked Nevada, Reno
The men's squad went into last year unranked and finished 51st with a record of 13-10 and a runner-up finish at the Mountain West Conference. Only No. 53 San Diego State is currently ranked higher from the league.
The Rebels debut at No. 3 UCLA on Jan. 29.
