Volleyball Defeats Air Force In Four

LAS VEGAS - The UNLV volleyball team defeated Air Force 3-1 (30-26, 30-22, 27-30, 30-26) on Saturday night at the Cox Pavilion. With the win, the Rebels improve to 6-15 on the season, 2-5 in the Mountain West Conference. The Falcons fall to 8-13, 2-5 in league play.

Patricia Assuncao led the Rebel attack with 12 kills. She also finished with nine digs and three service aces.

Nicki King dropped five kills on the Falcons with a .714 (5-0-7) attack percentage. She also tallied 36 assists and nine digs.

Sarah Fachner and Christina Kirschner finished with 10 kills each. Kirschner also put up five blocks, two solo and three assisted.

Nina Franchini, playing libero, added 11 assists in the match, while Tera Mayes finished with one kill and seven digs.

Tarin Keith added nine kills, four digs and one service ace.

Air Force was led by Delavane Diaz, who tallied 22 kills and 16 digs in the four-game match. UNLV hits the road next weekend for a pair of matches against BYU and Utah. The Rebels return home on Nov. 1 for a 7 p.m. match with Colorado State.
