LAS VEGAS - The UNLV volleyball team dropped its opening match of the UNLV/Hard Rock Thanksgiving Classic in the Thomas & Mack Center to Weber State 3-1 (23-30, 30-22, 22-30, 24-30).
With the loss, UNLV falls to 10-20 on the season and will play the consolation game on Saturday at noon against Oral Roberts. Weber State improved to 20-12 and will face Arizona State at 2:30.
Leiana Oswald led the UNLV attack with 18 kills and 13 digs. She also blocked two balls.
Blair Wilkes added 16 kills, while Sarah Fashner tallied 10. Setter Nicki King finished with 51 assists and 10 digs. Nina Franchini, playing libero, added 18 a team-high 18 digs.
Christina Kirschner dropped nine kills and five blocks on Weber State. Amy Lewis also added 10 digs in one of her biggest games of the season.
Weber State was led by Stephanie Metcalf's 17 kills and 13 digs.
