SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Two second half goals was all Sacramento State needed as the Hornets topped the UNLV men's soccer team, 3-1, in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation league play Sunday afternoon at Hornet Soccer Field.

Five minutes into regulation, Sacramento State's Joel Rodriguez scored off a rightside cross from teammate David Fraser for the early 1-0 lead.

UNLV answered back quickly in the 13th minute when senior Kelly Frederick (St. John's, Antigua) found the net off a cross from the leftside by freshman midfielder Rod Dyachenko (Vancouver, Wash.) to even the contest.

In the second half, Sacramento State never looked back as Hjalti Kristjansson netted the eventual game-winning goal unassisted at 46:04 off a free kick from 30-yards out. Teammate Ricky Rodriguez later scored an insurance goal at 89:10 to keep the game out of reach.

Senior goalkeeper Justin Dennis (Scottsdale, Ariz.) collected four saves in the loss, while Sacramento State goalkeeper Matt McDougall made five saves. With the victory, the Hornets raised their overall record to 5-7-4, 2-2-1 MPSF.

The Rebels (10-7, 3-2 MPSF) return home to host their final regular season match versus league rival and undefeated New Mexico (15-2, 5-0 MPSF) on Sunday, Nov. 10 at noon. Five seniors will also play in their final home contest on Senior Day at Peter Johann Memorial Field in Las Vegas.
