LAS VEGAS - Dalron Johnson had team-highs of 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the UNLV men's basketball team to a 70-61 win over Global Sports in an exhibition game Wednesday at the Thomas & Mack Center.
J.K. Edwards and Demetrius Hunter also scored in double-figures for the Runnin' Rebels with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Global Sports' George Banks led all players with 22 points and 12 rebounds as he was his team's only double-digit performer.
Johnson and Edwards combined for 22 of UNLV's first 27 points of the game and the Runnin' Rebels led 31-21 at halftime. UNLV extended its lead to 14 points with 8:56 to play in the game. Global Sports cut the deficit to six points at 56-50 with 7:04 left and could not get any closer.
UNLV will play its second and final exhibition game of the season on Tues., Nov. 19, against the EA Sports All-Stars at 7:30 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center. The regular season begins on Sun., Nov. 24, when the Runnin' Rebels host Portland State, also at 7:30 p.m. at the TMC.
