LAS VEGAS - UNLV senior pitcher Geney Orris was beaten for the first time this season as No. 13 Alabama claimed an 8-2 victory over the Rebels at the UNLV Softball Classic at Desert Breeze Softball Complex on Friday.

After gaining a 1-0 lead on a solo home run by Pauline Glenn, Orris (2-1) allowed the 13th-ranked Tide (6-4) to score three runs in the third and three in the fourth to amass an insurmountable lead 6-1.

UNLV (3-5) managed to move one more run across on an RBI double by Morgan Bostwick, but couldn't get another hit until the bottom of the seventh. Although the Rebels produced only four hits, three were for extra bases.

Erin Wright (2-1) picked up the win for Alabama with a complete-game, 12-strikeout performance. Orris lasted three and two-thirds innings before Kacey Ellis finished the game in relief.
